Cirques – sheep pastures – mountain lakes – flora and fauna: a hike in a class of its own
The hike is long; the ascent alone is almost a mountain tour in its own right. The Langtauferer Höhenweg is one of the longest in South Tyrol. There are no catered refreshment stops along the route.
However, the trail crosses several paths where you can descend early into the Langtauferer Valley and thus shorten the tour as desired. The hike takes you past several mountain lakes and three barracks that form part of the famous Alpine Wall. You pass beneath mighty mountain peaks, with views first of Lake Reschen and then of the glacial world of the Weißkugel.
