Location and background information about the Langtaufers Valley

The Langtaufes Valley joins the Vinschgau Valley at Graun and is approximately 10 km long.
At the end of the valley are the mighty glaciers of the Ötztal Alps with the Weißkugel (3,739 m), Langtauferer Spitze (3,526 m) and Weißseespitze (3,526 m) peaks.
At the foot of the Langtauferer Glacier, at 2,544 m, lies the Weißkugelhütte, the starting point for the most beautiful glacier tours in the Ötztal Alps, with Bärenbartkogel, Brandenburger Haus, Wildspitze and Hintereisspitzen, to name but a few, as tour destinations. The water from the Langtauferer Glacier, known as the Karlinbach, flows into Lake Reschen near Graun. The lowest hamlet in the valley lies at 1,500 m and the highest at 1,915 m above sea level. The Langtaufers Valley is one of the most unspoilt Alpine valleys and still boasts a relatively intact mountain farming landscape.

Mein Name Armin Plangge
My name is Armin Plangger. I was born in Kapron in the Langtauferertal valley near Graun in Vinschgau. I am a passionate mountaineer and, among other things, a long-standing member of the local mountain rescue service (Soccorso Alpino).
Having successfully completed my training as a mountain guide with a DIPLOMA, I now organise and accompany individuals and groups on mountain hikes in the surrounding area and further afield.
