Location: The lake lies at an altitude of 2,599 m in a barren and stony hollow (Jochpleissen), nestled amongst the mountains of the Ötztal Alps, facing impressive glacier-capped peaks.
Surroundings: The smaller Gschweller Lakes are also located in the immediate vicinity of Lake Kappl.
